ABSTRACT
How do biases influence perception? This chapter selects a culturally specific bias for the purposes of illustration and addresses this question from three perspectives: from the receiving end of biased perception, using cultural analysis; from within the biased perceiver’s mind, using cognitive science; and from the perspective of epistemology, a normative theory about what one should believe.
