ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses changes in an operational culture concept by means of a human factors program with the name Optimized Aviation Resources Administration (AORA), specifically tailored for Central American aviation group needs. Creating an HF program in the Central America area during the early 90's was an experience that in the beginning seemed to have many difficulties. The chapter highlights some facts that are not easy to accept but that are real in Latin nature. The total integration promoted by the organisation and the assistance to the human factors program has been a determinant to successfully reach the present concept of a safe world-class airline. The administration of knowledge on human error, situational awareness and applied organisational psychology, are an important part of the programs and together with the aeronautical physiological and medical program care, have lessened the psychosomatic affections caused by altered emotional states and have a big part, keeping the mental health concept for a multiple better interaction.
