ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with sexual violence against pubescent and adolescent girls aged 10 to 20 years. There were 8 % or 21 cases of sexual violence by different kinds of authority figures who are in similar kinds of positions to parents in relation to the children or young people in their care. There were 52 cases – 20 % – of sexual violence carried out by familiar people like friends, neighbours and fellow workers. This kind of sexual violence happens on the borders of the economy of emotions. Intimate violence belongs to the kind of violence which takes place inside the economy of emotions as well. Gender segregation – especially in the division of labour – may lead to a gender division in the economy of emotions. The economy of emotions includes the interpersonal relations between individuals as well the intrapersonal relations of each individual. The economy of emotions is most tight and intensive inside the family.
