ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses the establishment of the English regional development agencies and aims to identify the range of regional and local economic development issues which need to be addressed by government and regional actors, one year on. It does so through the prism of Yorkshire and Humber and reference to Yorkshire Forward, although many of the issues raised are not unique to one region or regional development agency.
