ABSTRACT

The National System of Protected Areas saves the most important values of the country’s flora and fauna, both terrestrial and marine. Regulation supports ecosystem conservation according to different categories of management, both national and international. Conservation categories are in line with Sustainable Development Goals 14 and 15, adopted by the Convention on Biological Diversity for the protection of terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Cuba is currently working on their connectivity through the identification of biological corridors of most outstanding ecosystems and is advancing to implement Other Effective Conservation Measures to reach some level of conservation in other areas.
