This chapter addresses Best Practice 4 – Demonstrate Professional Development by offering a stage model allowing self-assessment and assessment of others. Becoming a Communication Training and Development practitioner and demonstrating ongoing professional development involves being active in a community of practice in that area, learning the language of the field, contributing to field-related conversation, and possibly becoming a leader in that conversation in addition to more formally demonstrating relevant competencies.
