ABSTRACT

The agro-climatic conditions of Western India are suitable for growing horticultural crops like coconuts, mangoes, arecanuts, sapotas, bananas and papayas. A variety of vegetables are also grown in the region. The small and marginal farmers make their living by adopting multiple cropping pattern. The landless village artisans like basket makers, potters, carpenters and smiths sell their articles to the multicroppers. The village economy is thus dependent on multi-cropping.
