ABSTRACT

D. L. Goodwin and S. G. Compton noted that walking, cycling, swimming, and weight-lifting led to reduced pain, increased independence, and a higher sense of accomplishment in the lives of women with a physical disability. Across the globe, coaches have the opportunity to develop sport-specific knowledge and expertise through formal, non-formal, and informal educational settings. Formal educational learning opportunities are categorized as structured and large-scale programmes designed to help coaches attain knowledge and skills to increase their coaching confidence. In many ways, being an effective parasport coach is often similar to being an effective coach for athletes without a disability. Many parasport coaches and athletes have highlighted the importance of coaches being creative and open to new ideas regarding their coaching practices. For example, a coach may need to adapt or modify their practices if an athlete is unable to perform a specific motion owing to a physical limitation.
