ABSTRACT

A new paradigm has emerged in relation to the oil R&D industry worldwide. This is characterised by: a) major emphasis on the application of technologies, rather than on the generation or ownership of such technologies; b) R&D oriented to support critical competencies; c) intelligent handling of internal and external technology sources; d) national and international collaboration with other R&D institutions; and e) effective coordination/communication networks among technology/service units and business offices.
