ABSTRACT
In order to be as inclusive as possible, I chose an ecumenical definition of Mayan sociolinguistics: the study of the interrelationship between language variation and social life among the Maya. From this vantage point, the literature is substantial, although uneven in quality, theoretical framework and regional focus.
