ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to focus on some of the crucial facets related to neoliberal globalization and the politics of resistance. Primarily the issues raised revolve around whether neoliberal globalization should be regarded as a juggernaut or a jalopy. In terms of grasping the tactics and strategies of the politics of resistance against globalization several factors are open to discussion. Perhaps organized labour is too attracted to hitching a ride on the vehicle of globalization in order to protect jobs and prevent the exit of transnational capital. Contemporary political agency is seemingly more open-ended, plural and inclusive. Three further inter-related issues arise as a result of the above argument concerning the broader context of the practice and study of resistance to neoliberal globalization. Finally, the analysis of resistances to neoliberal globalization has to be grounded within the detail of actually existing locations.
