ABSTRACT
In Belgium, two main different datasets are used for comparative (child) poverty research. One data source has been providing data for the Luxemburg Income Study since 1985 (further referred as LIS-Belgium). Another has provided data for the European Community Household Panel since 1994 (hereafter ECHP-Belgium). Using the same poverty thresholds and equivalence scales, poverty estimates differ strongly according to the different sources.
