ABSTRACT
What makes learning difficult? Why have you been successful at times and not successful at other times? Have you had an experience in which you thought that the curriculum or content would be terribly boring only to have an exceptional teacher capture your mind? We asked a group of teachersnew, old, young, veteran, novice-to complete the statement, “It’s hard to learn when…” Their answers clustered in a few specific areas, including:
1. You don’t have enough background information about the subject. 2. You aren’t taught well. 3. You aren’t motivated or engaged.
