ABSTRACT
In previous chapters references were made to timely or untimely policy decisions and participation processes; the iterative nature of decisions; or the inherent contradictions between policy objectives due to, among other things, their different timescapes. This latter point is particularly relevant for the objectives of environmental protection and social/regional cohesion which together (or in opposition) with the objective of economic growth and development form the cornerstones of sustainable mobility.
