ABSTRACT
You should remember [President Chirac] the definition by de Gaulle of NATO: “An organization allotted to the Atlantic Alliance that is merely the military and political subordination of Western Europe to the United States of America. One day, you will have to explain to us all the reasons that drove you to modify this appreciation.” [...] The Serbs, judging that they cannot defend themselves on two fronts [against NATO and the KLA] would have instead decided to evacuate manu militari the “fifth column of NATO”, its “terrestrial force", that is to say the KLA, in particular in the villages where it merged with and build itself upon the civil population.
