ABSTRACT

Summary: This paper describes some of the more common of the new forms of computer evidence and the new techniques of evidence acquisition, preservation and analysis. It shows how inferences are being drawn from computer-derived materials that would not usually be viewed by the ordinary computer user. It attempts to indicate some of the practical problems of assessing reliability. As will be seen, even if as widely expected, section 69 disappears, a number of other issues of admissibility will arise. Finally it makes some provisional policy suggestions.
