ABSTRACT

In this chapter we discuss our experience of transforming a journey across the United States into a series of four radio shows about mobilities research. The guiding question for the journey and the shows was: What is happening to the mobilities of people who are trying to live outside the American modern dream of cars, family homes, and career jobs? We asked researchers, curators, artists, activists, farmers, priests, historians, and children this question related to their own lives, and this article tells the story of how we weaved their answers together to make radio.
