ABSTRACT

This interdisciplinary study, at the intersection of social sciences and art, delves into day-to-day practices of smartphone users. Through the case study of Ingress, a mobile alternative reality game, the paper observes how perceptions linked to digital images shape corporeal practices and paths. It investigates the different territories (the city, the map, the screen) and the generated metamorphoses/experiences of the user’s body during its movements. The proposed methodology is adapted to this hybrid field, mixing existing mobile and visual methods, sensory and virtual ethnography with an artistic approach. The little mermaid is guiding the reader all along.
