ABSTRACT

This chapter provides Energy performance contracting (EPC) and presents the issue of information integration within the context of EPC. Finding the right balance between investment and the data required for effective building management will help maximise the return on metering investment. Another important issue relates to the interpretation of the information in order to make it actionable. On the one hand, the need to lower prices has to be balanced against the cost of information gathering. On the other hand, while data is necessary, the main issue is being able to turn this data into actionable information. The chapter concludes with recommendations for public and private actors who intend to benefit from energy saving performance contracts. Having reliable information is also necessary to enforce contracts. Energy consumption was supposed to decrease by 60 per cent after replacing equipment and insulating dwellings.
