ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses various aspects of what creates value in real estate projects and how information integration can contribute to increasing value for users and owners in the operational phase. Of particular concerns are the questions of so-called value-driven leadership and added value in the context of facilities management. The concept of value-driven leadership stems from the notion that an organisation governs its business towards collective values specific to that organisation. The chapter also discusses some approaches to the value concept that are considered relevant for information integration in buildings during the in-use phase. It focuses on the challenges of optimising a construction project for end-users and owners by focusing on the value aspects of the stakeholders. The chapter presents some of the main research findings of studies conducted about Norwegian hospital buildings, university and campus buildings as well as office buildings.
