ABSTRACT

This chapter of the book presents the possibility of an ontological turn in Brazilian archaeology, combined with the perspectives common to archaeology, anthropology and history. It is important that this is not dealt with on the basis of a bibliography of research in archaeology in Brazil. Instead, we restrict ourselves to reports that dialogue more directly with the cases. We introduce our approach and present some applications in the national context and, finally, present our cases. The chapter concludes with notes on the potential of alternative ontologies and ontographies for Brazilian historical archaeology.
