ABSTRACT

Dunlop’s industrial relations contains abstractions in the form of actors in the system, the contexts of the system, and the ideology of the system, which combine to establish rules to govern the actors at the workplace and in the work community. The critical independent variables are the contexts of the systems, which can change, and the ideology of the system, which is the combination of the ideologies of each of the actors. Two new and highly complex processes overlap: the systems of industrial relation being influenced by ecological requirements and the internationalisation of environmental and labour policy. The approach is based on the system’s main actors, namely the managers and their representatives, the employees and their representatives, and the appropriate authorities. “Health and safety at work are guaranteed by way of technical provisions on materials and equipment used by employees, and by way of provisions for the protection of the employee in his working environment.”
