“You know, sometimes I don’t think the captain is very smart. He claims that he would like to see all criminals in prison and all drunks in a hospital. But if all the criminals were in prison, who’d run the government? And if all the drunks were put in a hospital, what would we do for a national defense program?” Zero—one dud who is also a composite protagonist— made this comment after a preliminary court-martial hearing in Germany, 1959.
