ABSTRACT

This chapter argues that analysis of the gendered harm associated with climate change requires a critical and feminist reconsideration of the meaning of intimate partner violence (IPV), risk, and security. Using amplified versions of these concepts, along with the new concept of ‘slow intimate partner violence’, it examines the ways that the social construction of gender, neoliberalism and the politics of mobility produce gendered risks, vulnerabilities, and insecurities. The chapter also explores a variety of strategies to achieve both climate justice and gender justice.
