ABSTRACT

In the introduction the historical and conceptual background of the book is briefly presented: resilience, which is about our ability to handle life’s challenges, big and small, individually and at a group level; and mentalising, which is about the mental skill to think about our own thoughts and the thoughts of others. Unsurprisingly, it has been proven that this ability is crucial to managing life. The Resilience Programme is introduced. This is a simple programme in everyday language providing knowledge and inspiration about careful thinking/mentalising. The Introduction also includes a brief overview of the chapters in the book.
