ABSTRACT

This chapter aims to determine job satisfaction levels of hospital managers; to inquire their views about quitting the job; and to determine the relationship of these views with their job satisfaction levels. Job satisfaction is a multidimensional concept, encompassing financial rewards, supervision, working conditions, fellow workers, the job itself, etc. Job satisfaction in general and in the health sector in particular has emerged as an important area to pursue. The Turkish health system is quite complicated and fragmented in terms of finance and provision. Multiple providers and financiers attempt to solve the health problems of the population with varying degrees of quality, availability and accessibility. The job and job content dimension was found to be the most satisfactory dimension for nurses, doctors and managers of education. In the health sector, job satisfaction levels of nurses and doctors have been particularly studied, but hospital managers have rarely been the subject of such studies.
