This chapter will look at some of the difficulties that people living with HIV have with chronic pain, particularly neuropathic pain (which is pain as a result of problems with the nerves in the body). We will discuss some of the reasons that people develop neuropathic pain, and look at why an approach that combines medication, physiotherapy and psychological techniques is most effective.
