ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses human work in the working system. The operational definition of human work includes any activity that an individual undertakes to secure and develop his or her own existence and/or the existence of the society, as far as this activity is accepted and rewarded by the society. There are different ways to analyse the structure of the working system and the interaction of its elements. Thus, one cannot speak of the work or job analysis, or of the activity-oriented or the task-related work analysis. How work analyses of working systems are designed and performed depends largely on the underlying theoretical foundation and the related object of the work analysis that is the working system, the job, the individual. Subjective task/job analysis procedures deal with the individual differences between working persons, which are reflected both in subjective perception and in the work performance.
