ABSTRACT

A new approach to actual problem is the Modular Work Analysis System (MAS), which has been developed since 1986 at the 'Institut fur Arbeitswissenschaft der Technischen Hochschule Darmstadt'. The aim of development was to create a work analysis system able to analyse work systems with regard to any specific aspect and also to keep the results comparable to the results of Arbeitswissenschaftliches Erhebungsverfahren zur Tatigkeitsanalyse (AET) and other MAS results as far as possible. Due to the complexity and variety of human work it is impossible to explain it with only one model. Work analysis with the MAS is done like several other systems by investigating and rating a certain number of characteristics; each characteristic describing a more or less specific aspect of work. One outstanding feature of the MAS is, that the amount and selection of characteristics may vary according to the purpose of work analysis.
