ABSTRACT
This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book discusses the effect on study results of geographic scale or type of geographic unit being analyzed. It focuses on migration, national and local level data sources were contrasted. Micro-scale informal caregiving networks and macro-scale formal resource structures were compared and blended. The book outlines comprehensively where to find and how to use secondary data. The University of North Carolina and its sister institutions, Duke and Wake Forest, have a history of interdisciplinary ventures. The types of collaboration discussed between North Carolina universities and rural communities may not always be feasible, but the relevance and validity which cooperation between researched and researcher provides has the potential to be manifest under a variety of circumstances.
