ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book examines the death rituals of the Hindu faith, how much the author learned about the faith of his childhood and culture. It writes of Buddhist tendencies not as being goal oriented, where “if one can find a response to the question of death and dying, then one can lead a meaningful life in accordance with that response”. The book shows how little the afterlife actually plays in Jewish thought. It considers that the Christian belief in an afterlife is based in Jewish philosophy, and afterlife is a large part of the Jewish belief system. The book explains about Greek Orthodox traditions, Catholic traditions, and Protestant traditions, and emphasizes that death is the moment at which a person of faith is defined.
