ABSTRACT
The search for high quality medical care at reasonable cost is reflected in a recent survey of the health insurance plans offered to state employees in the Midwest. 1 This survey shows a public sector trend that follows one in private sector employment. There is a shift away from the traditional Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans and a movement toward employer funding, comprehensive benefits, and some recognition of the desirability of prepaid group practice plans.
