ABSTRACT

Israel is an urbanized country. In 1972, 84.4% of the population lived in urban areas. The Jewish population in Israel, which makes up 85.3% of the population, is even more urbanized, where 90.3% live in urban areas. The non-Jewish population is predominantly rural, and only 49.7% live in urban areas. Israel is the 3rd most urbanized country in the world according to the U.N. Demographical Yearbook, 1970.
