ABSTRACT

Within the context of overall human resource utilization both the educational system and individual training programmes have vital roles to play. The educational system of any country has the broad task of developing and channelling human potential. Teacher training programmes have the difficult task of meeting both goals. The difficulties of selection stem largely from the problems of defining adequate criteria of teaching performance. It is not proposed that the interaction analysis technique shall exist as the criterion for teaching performance, rather it should form part of the developmental monitoring. Micro-teaching is essentially a form of teacher training involving the student in presenting a short lesson which is recorded on a closed circuit television system. A matrix of the student behaviour is made and this is discussed with the student when the recorded lesson is replayed, thus providing immediate feedback on the student's performance.
