ABSTRACT

Federico cited some operating officers who were good and talented people, very intelligent and aggressive, with incredibly high standards. They hired and developed great teams, but were considered “rough around the edges”— they could be abrasive or difficult to get along with at times. In some cases, Federico recalled, his boss would say, “That person has to go.” Within reason, Federico will try to smooth out those “rough spots,” as he called them, but a cultural mismatch will not be tolerated.
