ABSTRACT

There are two types of entrepreneurs operating in African countries where stable economic and social conditions provide a solid foundation for private or public ventures. The first type of entrepreneurs understands local conditions and identifies specific niches to exploit. The second type of entrepreneur represents individuals who were most likely educated or trained abroad and return home to use the knowledge gained abroad to start new initiatives and offer products or services not previously available. Scientists, innovators, and entrepreneurs serve business to business marketing as generators of technological innovations. Business to business marketing was previously known as industrial marketing; lately, it represents a function within supply chains or even value chains. It plays an important role on both macroeconomic and microeconomic levels. Enterprise level marketing managers are responsible for market assessment. Enterprise scientists, scientists working in public and private laboratories, and academic researchers all contribute to the technological innovativeness and competitiveness of enterprises.
