ABSTRACT

In recent years, with the rapid development of in-vehicle technology and the general improvement in people's living standards, vehicle penetration has increased greatly in urban areas. In addition, as people spend more time in their cars, the need for more convenient and efficient services is urgent. This chapter provides a multicast cooperative awareness messages (CAM) method for Vehicular ad hoc network (VANET). This measure modifies the traditional single-hop transmission measures into a method based on multihop multicast. To evaluate the performance of IEEE 802.11 ad hoc broadcast networks, an analytic model has been proposed. Many broadcast protocols have been proposed to address the challenge of the frequent topology changes in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). This chapter proposes a broadcast method for VANET, which uses a price evaluation method, comparing the cost and profit of media access control (MAC) message multicasting.
