ABSTRACT

The introduction contextualizes the topic and ideas behind the book. In particular it situates leadership and hope in the Anthropocene Age referring to the myth of Prometheus and problems of Promethean mastery today. Furthermore, it shows how the book responds to these questions, helping students and scholars to develop new forms of wise leadership as they share and interpret narratives. For this, first a critical understanding of practical wisdom and its links to leadership as well as to narratives are outlined as well as linked to the process of ‘educating wise leaders’. Then, the introduction provides an overview of all chapters, interpreting them and raising questions for further discussion about the lessons or messages they may have for leadership in the Anthropocene. Finally, readers are invited to join in an ongoing conversation about how sharing stories can help to create a more sustainable future.
