ABSTRACT
The philosopher, orator, poet, and politician Lucius Annaeus Seneca was born in the Spanish city Corduba (today Cordoba) between the year 4 bc and ad 1. His father was the well-to-do Roman knight Lucius Annaeus Seneca (55 bc-ad 40), who is today best known under the name Seneca Rhetor.1
