ABSTRACT

Gaius Suetonius Tranquillus (ca. ad 69-ca. 135) is chiefly known as the writer of The Twelve Caesars (De Vita Caesarum), a work that has been regarded as one of the seminal pieces within the genre of biography ever since antiquity.Given the fact that Kierkegaard only ever makes reference to Suetonius in connection with this work, it is the only one we shall deal with here.
