ABSTRACT
The word is derived from the Old Danish udødelighet and the Old Norse údauðleikr. The term originally suggested personal survival after death but was later also used to indicate a timeless eternity. It often appears in metaphysical and theological contexts to connote the existence of the soul beyond temporal limitations.1
