ABSTRACT
As king of Israel and the successor of Saul, David ruled in Judah and Israel from about 1000 bc to 961 bc and founded a dynasty of kings. Solomon was one of his sons who, after quarrelling with his siblings about the succession to the throne, became David’s successor, reigning from 961 to 926 bc.
