ABSTRACT

The national-political frame: Since the early 1990s, policy aimed at the harmonization of the various types of organizations providing services to drug users that came from completely different sectors. The most recent drug policy document for Prague is the "Strategic Plan of Drug Policy of the Capital of Prague for 2006-2009". Its major aims are to protect the inhabitants from negative consequences of drug use and to support them in their individual decision for a drug-free life. The drug policy in the Czech Republic is highly coordinated; accordingly reporting and monitoring are well developed. The activities in the drug field require serious financial investments. For example in 2005, 400.7 million Czech Korona were spent nationwide on drug-related projects and activities. Drug prices have remained relatively stable in the Czech Republic, according to information provided by the Police National Drug Headquarters.
