ABSTRACT

This chapter explains the typical components of a Statement of Service Requirement (SoSR). The quality of the supplier responses will be significantly influenced by the quality of the SoSR. 'The supplier is advised that all information which is contained in this SoSR or which is communicated in further correspondence or which is provided or obtained during any subsequent negotiations is confidential. 'The contracts negotiated will be arm's-length and will describe the basis of supply of services by the successful supplier. As a prelude to providing potentially large volumes of detailed information relating to the services to be provided, suppliers will find it helpful to gain an overview of the requirement. There is a widely held belief that providing suppliers with detailed cost information relating to the service to be transferred will disadvantage the purchaser. Where an existing operation is transferred or required to be replicated, it is important to describe current service and performance levels.
