ABSTRACT

Introduction: New Horizons for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Local industries often face fierce competition within their region, especially where traditional products are concerned. Survival mechanisms may be based on learning principles and organizational networks. The first two parts of this chapter review the most important literature in this field and develop propositions for empirical testing. The later part of the chapter discusses the case of local honey production in Sicily. It first presents the general findings and then the analytical results from using a recently developed artificial intelligence method for nominal (linguistic) information based on decision tree analysis. The new developments in approaches to innovation and entrepreneurship will now be discussed.
