ABSTRACT

The state in the imperialist nations is particularly active in concentrating power within the nation and projecting it overseas in a great variety of institutions, economic and political circumstances, and establishing vast spheres of influence and domination. The US imperial state leads the way, followed by the EU led by Germany and France and Japan. The US imperial state leads the way, followed by the EU led by Germany and France and Japan. The power of the imperial state is extended to international financial institutions (IFIs) such the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the World Bank (WB), the Asian Bank (AB) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). This chapter discusses the unsubstantiated arguments of the globalist theorists and then details the significance of the state in the contemporary world, regional and local economies. It presents an explanation of the reasons for the growth of statism in the neo-liberal economies of the world.
