ABSTRACT

One of the tasks undertaken by our contributors to the country-specific chapters is to identify both negative and positive aspects of the various new developments in journalism that are happening already, about to happen or may possibly occur in the future. The focus in this chapter is entirely on the challenges, those issues that journalism will need to respond to if it is to retain the high levels of quality that are available still at the top end of the media spectrum, and at the very least improve the situation amongst the less quality-conscious news providers.
