ABSTRACT
The United Nations Economic Commission (UNECA) and the Organization of African Unity (OAU) between them share the credit for launching and enhancing regional co-operation for Africa. Indeed, both organisations have over the years collaborated in the setting up of several intergovernmental organisations (IGOs), institutions such as the African Development Bank (AfDB) and other mechanisms with the main purpose of ultimately achieving African Unity and economic integration.
