ABSTRACT

I imagine that I feel what a dinosaur felt at the end of its era. As I come to the end of my ministry in the Church of England, I look back upon almost 40 years of mostly enjoyment, of making many friends and of learning much. When I come to this collection I feel only humbled. It reminds me of how much time I have spent roaming in the margins between the church and other institutions rather than at the centre of the church's life. Here these worlds are represented by two distinguished psycho-analysts and psychiatrists (Drs Obholzer and Shapiro), one diocesan bishop (Wright), two suffragan bishops (Lowe and Redfern), two pastoral theologians (Professors Forrester and Gill), two parish priests (Emma Percy and Christopher Moody) and two involved in research and training (Drs Ward and Percy), and one teacher from a theological College (Angela Tilby).
