ABSTRACT
The capriccio is a genre that has existed in art since antiquity, even though it is most commonly associated with the movement that developed after the renewed interest in antiquity, generated by the archeological discoveries of the sixteenth century; a trend that found its point of maximum interest in seventeenth-century paintings, especially in the Venetian milieu.
